This is a certain percentage that tells you how closely the indexed annuity follows the performance of the underlying index. Many deferred annuities also limit the amount of money that you can lose if the index performs poorly. There is usually a certain floor set for this. Many indexed annuity investments will even specify that you will earn some minimum interest rate not matter how bad the index performance was.
