The Epoch of History

The Epoch of History…

Terry Dashner…………Faith Fellowship Church PO Box 1586 Broken Arrow, OK 74013

In the beginning God planted a garden, eastward in Eden. In His garden were all kinds of trees, which were pleasant to the sight and good for food; however, in the middle of the garden God placed two special trees: the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He told his caretaker, Adam, not to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or he would die spiritually and begin dying physically.

The garden had a river also. The river watered the garden and then divided into four headwaters that flowed out across the expanse. Two of the rivers are still present: the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers in modern day Iraq. The garden was perfection until the tempter came. The tempter appeared as a serpent, deceiving Eve and conquering God’s Adam or first man. Sin infested the garden and God’s caretakers. Thereupon Adam and Eve were driven from the garden to work the ground by the sweat of their brows.

There is another Epoch in history that parallels the Garden of Eden. The garden is Gethsemane. The name means “oil press.” It is where the oil is squeezed from the olive. The last Adam, Jesus Christ, would be “pressed” in agony as He prayed to accept the chalice of death at the Father’s hand. There was also a tree, central to the garden. The tree was hewn into a Cross and placed on Mount Calvary. But there was also a river, but not a river of water. It was the river of Life, manifested in flesh and blood. And they called Him Jesus because “He will save His people from their sins.”

Jesus told the woman at the well in John chapter four and verse 10 that “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” Jesus, the last Adam, said again to the woman, “Everyone who drinks of this [natural] water will thirst again; (verse 14) but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” Jesus is the water of life that took on flesh and dwelt among us. But many have refused His living water because they were filled with another kind of water.

The river of life was in the beginning, and the river of life was at the apex of history. The river of life still flows from heaven to earth, from the Cross to the tomb, from the grave to the sky, and from the sky into human hearts by the Spirit of the Living God. The Holy Spirit is the river of Life flowing out from our inner most being to minister life in testimony to Jesus to all who will hear His voice. Won’t you hear what the scripture is saying? He that comes to Jesus and drinks Him in—out of his belly show flow rivers of living water.

The river of life will flow throughout eternity. In Revelation chapter 22 and beginning with verse one the river of Life is seen flowing down the middle of Heaven’s main street. The river has the properties of water, just like in the Garden of Eden. And it waters the trees on either sides of the street. These are the Trees of Life. They bear 12 kinds of fruits, during the course of the year, and their leaves are for the healing of the nations. I thank God for the River of Life. His name is Jesus!

Keep the faith. Stay the course. Jesus is coming soon and very soon. Let the River flow!
