Father’s role in labor and delivery?

By:Melanie

The role of dad-to-be in delivery and childbirth has altered radically ever since the years when attendant maids and spouses paced the hospital waiting room, nervously in anticipation of a doctor's declaration announcing the gender of the child. Now husband and wife can make the relationship and the emotional bond stronger via pregnancy. The to-be-father can go and help to fix the doctor's appointments, childbirth classes, book a ward room, and register for the baby shower. Nowadays, several men are concerned from the moment the pregnancy test is reported positive, attending prenatal activities, childbirth lessons, and, subsequent to the birth, father-baby groups.

Some men are happy with full-fledged participation, and a few aren't. Some get very thrilled to embrace the baby as soon as they can. And not all men relish the thought of being present during labor and delivery. But for most, seeing their child born is one of life's great moments.
